How to Style with Hot Rollers for Loose, Beachy Waves


If you spend any time on TikTok, you know hot rollers are all the rage in 2021! One of the great things about hot rollers is that you can get ready, put on makeup, and do other activities around the house while the rollers curl your hair. Here is a quick guide on how to get gorgeous, loose curls using hot rollers. One of the most important things to remember when first using hot rollers is to trust the process! With a little bit of practice, you will be a pro in no time.


First, make sure your hair is dry before you begin. Plug in your rollers and let them heat up for about 10-15 minutes. The indicator light
turns on once the rollers start heating and white when the rollers are ready.

 

Before you start putting the rollers in, section off your hair so you know approximately how many rollers you will need for your whole head of hair and where to begin (we like to call this hot roller mapping—a game plan is key!. 

For the big volume and waves that you see on TikTok, use the bigger rollers to curl the pieces of hair in the front and on the crown of your head and use the smaller rollers for the back of the head and underneath pieces of hair. Once you have sectioned off your hair, place one of the hot rollers near the end of one section.

For a beachy wave look, begin by wrapping the ends of one section around a roller. Wrap rollers away from your face to get a modern roller look—think bombshell blowout, 90’s blowout.  Leave around ½ inch of hair at the end of your hair out of the roller. Wrap the little portion of your ends around the roller using your fingers. Once you have wrapped your ends around the roller, roll the hot roller up the section of hair and toward your face. Place a clip around the roller once it reaches the top of your head to hold the roller and hair in place.Take another section and repeat the steps above until all of your hair is wrapped around the hot rollers. Keep your rollers in your hair until they’re cool to the touch.

After you have waited for your rollers to work their magic, start unrolling to unleash your gorgeous beachy waves! Unclip the rollers starting with the back and underneath sections of hair. Once unclipped, guide your hair off of the roller by gently unwinding each section of hair.



Gently shake out your curls or use a comb to gently comb through your hair and voila… gorgeous beachy waves!
